Ian Nepomniachtchi ?? became the winner of FIDE Grand Prix in Moscow. He won 24,000 Euros and 9 Grand Prix points to become the leader of the Series. ⠀ The final match was decided on a tiebreak after the regular games were both drawn. Nepomniachi defeated Grischuk with White in the second rapid game. ⠀ GP leaders after the first leg: 1. Ian Nepomniachtchi – 9 points, 2. Alexander Grischuk – 7, 3. Radoslaw Wojtaszek – 5, 4. W dniach 20-29 kwietnia odbył się w Karlsruhe/Baden silny turniej w szachach klasyczynych.

Zdecydowane zwycięstwo odniósł mistrz świata Magnus Carlsen. Na uwagę zasługuje wynik 14-letniego Niemca Vincenta Keymera, który w tak silnym turnieju zdobył 2 punkty.
