Mistrzostwa NATO w szachach to turniej z długą tradycją. W tym roku odbyły się 33. mistrzostwa, które odbyły sie w dniach 3-9 września w Portorož na słoweńskim wybrzeżu Adriatyku.

Reprezentacja Wojska Polskiego w składzie: ppłk Sławomir Kędzierski, kpt. Dariusz Sycz, kpt. Damian Graczyk, por. Marcin Pietruszewski, por. Kamil Cichy, kpr. pchor. Patryk Michałowski, st. szer. Tomasz Hadzicki oraz szer. Zbigniew Glatty, zajęła 6. miejsce.

Turniej wygrali Niemcy, srebro zdobyli Grecy, a brąz Amerykanie. Startowało 21 drużyn z 17 państw.

Dziś w Szarm el-Szejk (Egipt) zakończyły się Mistrzostwa Świata Kadetów w kategoriach wiekowych U8 do U12.

Niestety polska ekipa nie zdobyła żadnego medalu. Jedynie Zuzanna Kamińska zajęła w kategorii U10 4 miejsce.
