In the comments to our previous post we were asked where Ponomariov @Ponomariov is among the World Champions. Now we publish the comprehensive list for the ages at which each world champion won the title, both the Classical line (since 1886) and the FIDE world champions line… pic.twitter.com/5Oosovt9ne

Today was an exhausting day of chess and side activities at #SunwaySitges and players are finally resting now. The „Champions’ Corridor” of the venue (inside the official hotel) is lonely now… Thanks @Anna_Chess, @DanielKingChess, @pepeich_cuenca and @El_Divis for broadcasting! pic.twitter.com/9nzRS1UkKR

Most most, „play” means fun & relaxing. For me, to play chess has serious connotations! So when asked about my chess activities on the Strange Loop podcast, it got complicated. Out tomorrow, July 9. I don't know why but I simply adore when Kasparov blunders and then reacts emotionally! Sorry for that @Kasparov63 ????

Recenzja w New in CHESS
Dear Chess Friend,
New in our webshop: Openings: The English Opening Volume 2 by FM Jerzy Konikowski and Uwe Bekemann.
What does a chess player need who is familiar with the rules, but often gets into trouble right away in the opening? This question served as the starting point for the authors as they began compiling the material for a two-volume work on the English Opening.
Volume 1 (published in 2024) deals with the Symmetrical Variation 1.c2-c4 c7-c5 and some rarely played side lines.
Volume 2 covers the continuations 1.c4 e5 and 1.c4 Nf6, following the guidelines of the series: read – understand – play. The opening lines are explained in detail, with the authors paying special attention to the presentation of the inherent ideas and plans to ensure that the reader understands them properly, rather than merely reciting moves learned by heart. Even the meaning and purpose of a single move may be explained, insofar as it is essential for understanding.
Check out this new opening manual and use the discussed lines with the white and the black pieces in an appropriate way. On the product page, 20 sample pages are available to give you a good feel for the book.
Best wishes,
Edwin van Haastert
