Karsten Müller z Hamburga jest doktorem matematyki, arcymistrzem, trenerem oraz aktywnym publicystą.

Zakres tematyczny jego publikacji jest bardzo szeroki: biografie, zbiory partii, debiuty, problemy gry środkowej itd.

Jest uznanym w świecie szachowym specjalistą gry końcowej. Opublikował wiele tematycznych książek, które uzyskały wysokie noty czołowych arcymistrzów świata, w tym Magnusa Carlsena.
