Ponownie wraca temat „Czy można łączyć studia z zawodowymi szachami na światowym poziomie”?
O tym pisałem już w Panoramie Szachowej 1/1999, co bardzo zdenerwowało pewnego czołowego dziennikarza Polskiego Związku Szachowego, który na swojej stronie w artykule Fałszywe równanie (2002) oskarżył mnie o namawianie polskich szachistów do pójścia drogą Fischera, czyli rzucenia szkoły.
Podobnie zarzucili mnie to, w trakcie dyskusji na forum Polskiego Związku Szachowego o unowocześnieniu Młodzieżowej Akademii Szachowej 2003, Bartłomiej Macieja i Krzysztof Pytel.
Ten dylemat przypomniałem w artykule (Panorama Szachowa, 9-2002) pt. „Peter Leko pretendentem!” dotyczący turnieju w Dortmundzie i rozegranego w dniach 6-21 lipca 2002 roku, który był jednocześnie eliminacją do meczu o mistrzostwo świata z Kramnikiem.
W finale Leko pokonał Topałowa 2.5-1.5, co dało mu prawo walki z Kramnikiem i wzbogaciło jego kieszeń o 100 000 $. Fragment z mojego artykułu
Powtarzam, że nikogo nigdy nie namawiałem do rzucania szkoły, lecz przedstawiałem tylko problem!

Tata Steel Masters Tournament 2025, 18 styczeń – 2 luty
Jedyna przegrana mistrza świata Gukesh-Erigaisi 0-1
Czy Erigaisi zrobił w tej partii coś niezwykłego? Nie, po prostu zdwoił wieże i zdobył hetmana.
Było to możliwe dlatego że Gukesh rozproszył swoje dwie wieże, które praktycznie ani nie grały, ani nie broniły pozycji białych. Remis uzyskaliśmy w prosty i dość zaskakujący sposób. Wygraną też. Na dwa sposoby, w 54 ruchu. Prostą drogą do wygranej była wymiana figur i czarne przegrywały z uwagi na 2 słabe, zdublowane pionki na linii „f”.
Partia będzie w naszym konkursie szachowym Grandmaster Corner w niedzielę 9 lutego z nagrodą $15.

We would like to invite you to the new series of GM/IM closed tournaments in Prague, Czech Republic. Located in the heart of Europe, Prague is known to be one of the most beautiful capitals in the world; with it’s georgous medieval and gothic architecture and buzzing cultural scene it has been constantly attracting tourists and intellectuals for the last centuries. Featuring big tournaments, like Prague International Chess Festival, it is also well established in the chess world. Prague Gambit Cafe, located in the city centre, 10 minutes by tram from the Old Town, is a unique space with a purpose to make the city’s chess scene even more vivid.
On the daily basis it gathers chess players for casual games and provides the opportunity to socialize and meet the strong, well-known players, including GM Anton Korobov and GM Robert Cvek, who visits it regularly. More than that, we have been organizing smaller tournaments, training sessions and simuls and have provided the space for some regional tournament, so starting the Gambit GM/IM Series is the natural next step for us to develop and attract players from around the world.
The tournaments will be held regularly, once in two months at least. We’ll be organizing a GM and an IM tournaments with 10 players each, played according to the RoundRobin system. The guaranteed minimum average rating of the players in GM tournament is 2380 ELO points, in IM torunament 2230 ELO points. It goes without saying, the tournaments are rated for FIDE.
The first tournament will take place on March 8th-13th, just after the Prague Chess Festival and just before March Pilsen Open. All the details regarding the schedule and conditions can be found on the tournament website: https://gambittournament.com/
The tournaments are organized by Dominika Palka, the chess popularizer and the owner of Prague Gambit Cafe with the help of GM Robert Cvek, chess journalist and a well-known chess coach.
